Sour, sweet or salty?

If you are drawn from time to time to time by sour, then salty, then sweet, then the body gives you certain signals. How to learn to understand them?

Elena Solomatina, a nutritionist at the People's Company for Support of Social Programs "Save Your Health" in Moscow, tells us.

Sweet food

A product with sweet taste is, first of all, a powerful antidepressant. The habit of "eating" sweets of excitement and resentment is characteristic especially of women. If you have noticed this passion, you may need to look for a reason in the psychological discomfort and try to solve conflict issues in the family and at work.

Absorbing sweets is just a way to get rid of some problems, such as overweight, diabetes and others. The amount of sweetness should be reduced gradually, replacing it with light physical activity or distracted by interesting activities.

When there is an urgent need to "sweeten", it is better to do with dried fruits, which will saturate the body with the necessary substances and will not cause harm. If this is not enough, you can eat a piece of black chocolate, pastila, marshmallow, marmalade or iris, which contains tryptophan - a natural tranquilizer. You only need to observe the measure and do not eat more than 20-30 grams of this delicacy a day. Another reason for "sweet passion" - hormone changes in premenstrual syndrome. But even here, you should not go straight to your own desires. It happens that the need for delicious disappears after some time itself.

Sour food

If you want to acidify yourself, you may be asking for help with your immunity. The body is trying to make up for your vitamin C deficiency in this way. After all, ascorbic acid is most often found in many acidic products. That's why an appetite for dishes with an acidic flavor can be a signal of an onset of a cold or an increase in temperature. For example, cranberries can effectively cope with various inflammations, especially urological ones.

Sudden addiction to "acidulous" can occur when there are signs of any kind of toxicosis. When the body gets poisonous substances, immune system cells try to neutralize them and "call" for help vitamin C. So don't be surprised at the desire to eat lemon when you feel nauseous - this can really be a relief.

Many foods containing lactic acid bacteria have an acidic taste. A clear desire to eat sour milk or cheese is often a requirement for the body to normalize the bacterial flora in the stomach and intestines. It can happen after taking antibiotics that kill useful bacteria. By the way, if you have been unrestrained and ate too much fat, finish your meal with cheese or something sour. Almost all acidic foods break down fats well and improve the digestion of food.

Bitter food

Black and red peppers will be a welcome addition to lunch when you're cold or feeling exhausted. In addition, a sudden love for onions and garlic can be another signal of a severe respiratory illness. These condiments improve blood circulation, so don't eat them just before you go to sleep. If you notice a temper, do not try to pepper every piece. Such a dish will noticeably increase your excitability.

Salty food

Ironically, salty is often desirable when dehydrated. Salt consumption, i.e. sodium, is the easiest way to keep the liquid in the body. Salted water will also be a salvage against heatstroke, because sodium maintains the temperature balance of the body. The constant lack of sodium leads to the absorption of olives and olives, as well as pickles and marinades of all kinds.

The boundless love for seaweed, which is often replaced by salt, may indicate a lack of iodine in the body. In addition, it is possible to "pull on salty" due to the disruption of the thyroid gland. If these passions are not associated with pregnancy, it is better to see an endocrinologist.
