Manufacturers of energy beverages claim that their products only bring benefits, and continue to produce more and more types of beverages. If everything is so perfect, why did the lawmakers try to put forward a bill limiting the spread of this miracle drink? Let's look into this situation in more detail.
Advantages
Energy drinks are great for cheering up and stimulating mental activity.Everyone can find an energy drink according to their needs. According to their purpose, energy drinks are conditionally divided into groups: some contain more caffeine, others contain more vitamins and carbohydrates. "Coffee drinks are suitable for complete, irreparable workaholics and students who have to work and study at night, and vitamin-carbohydrate drinks are suitable for active people who prefer to spend their free time in the gym.
Energy drinks contain a complex of vitamins and glucose. Everyone knows about the benefits of vitamins. Glucose, on the other hand, quickly penetrates into the bloodstream, participates in oxidative processes and provides energy to the muscles, brain and other vital organs.
The action of a cup of coffee remains 1 - 2 hours, the action of energy drink - 3 - 4 hours. In addition, almost all energy drinks are carbonated, which speeds up their action - this is their third difference from coffee.
Thanks to convenient packaging, energy drinks can be carried and consumed in any situation (on the dance floor, in the car), which cannot be said about coffee or tea.
Minuses
Energy drinks can be consumed in strict accordance with the dosage. The maximum dose is 2 cans of drink per day. Excess dosage may result in higher blood pressure or blood sugar levels.Energy drinks are officially banned in France, Denmark and Norway, where they are sold only in pharmacies as they are considered a medicine. Recently, the Swedish authorities have launched an investigation into 3 deaths allegedly caused by the consumption of energy drinks.
Vitamins contained in energy drinks cannot replace a multivitamin complex.
People suffering from heart disease, hypo- or hypertension should not consume energy drinks.
A statement that an energy drink provides the body with energy is unfounded. The content of the cherished can only opens the way to the internal reserves of the body, i.e. it acts as a key, or rather a lock. In other words, the drink itself contains no energy, but only uses our own. Thus, we use our own energy resources, to put it simply, we borrow energy from ourselves. However, sooner or later this debt will have to be repaid with interest in the form of fatigue, insomnia, irritability and depression.
Like any other stimulant, caffeine in energy drinks leads to nervous system exhaustion. Its action is maintained for an average of 3 to 5 hours, after which the body needs to rest. Caffeine is also addictive.
The energy drink containing a combination of glucose and caffeine is very harmful to the young body.
Many energy drinks contain large amounts of vitamin B, which causes palpitations and tremors in the limbs.
Fitness fans should be aware of the outstanding diuretic properties of caffeine. This means that you can't drink an energy drink after training, because we already lose a lot of fluids during training.
In case of exceeding the allowable dose, side effects are not excluded: tachycardia, psychomotor agitation, increased nervousness, depression.
Energy drinks contain taurine and glucuronolactone. Taurine content is several times higher than the permissible level, and the amount of glucuronolactone contained in 2 cans of the drink is almost 500 times higher than the daily norm (!). Even scientists do not know how these ingredients affect the body and how they interact with caffeine. Therefore, experts state that the safety of such high doses of taurine and glucuronolactone has not yet been determined, which requires further research.
As you can see, the downside is much more than the downside. And yet, it is possible that one day in your life there will be a situation (hopefully only once), when you will not be able to do without an energy drink. In this case, read the rules of drinking carefully to protect your favorite and only organism.
